Peer Recovery Specialists are individuals who are in recovery from substance or co-occurring mental health disorders. Their lived experience allows them to provide recovery support in such a way that can benefit others looking to make a positive change in their life.
Peer Recovery Specialists help the individual identify their strengths in order to help them make self directed choices about their personal recovery. They work together to then identify and work through barriers and obstacles to achieving their goals.
Peer Recovery Specialists work alongside an individual to ensure their recovery includes looking at their physical health, mental health, community, & family supports. They assist individuals in exploring the resources needed to address all areas.
Peer Recovery specialists support all pathways to recovery. They work with individuals in trying out different things until the individual finds what works best for getting closer to the goals they set for themselves.
Peer Recovery Specialists are typically involved and in the know about things going on and available to the local recovery community.
Peers help individuals find and get connected to resources surrounding healthcare, housing, work, education, financial aid, treatment, recreation, you name it!
Peer Recovery Specialists are able to share not only their own lived experience, but other information on substance use, harm reduction, and ways that you can advocate for yourself or others.
Peers working out of Recovery Community Organizations can meet with you at any point in your recovery journey. Not sure if you have a problem? Looking to get into treatment or other recovery programs? In recovery for a while already? We are able to be there at any/ all points you want us to be.
